Engine: Air Filter Minder and Remote Starting Panel

If you’ve ever looked in your engine compartment you’ve probably noticed what we term as the Remote Start Panel. The switches on this panel are mainly used by service technicians for maintenance purposes where it may be necessary to start the main engine from the rear engine area. It also allows a technician or customer to make a quick visual inspection of your engine air filter effectiveness and need for servicing.

1 • ENGINE AIR FILTER MINDER

The Air filter minder takes the guesswork out of filter maintenance because it doesn’t care how dirty the air filter looks or how long it’s been installed. It only cares how well the filter is working. As the filter gets more restricted, the yellow position indicator progressively fills the window as air filter restriction increases, locking at the highest restriction. The air filter should be changed when the position indicator reaches the red zone.

Each air cleaner system has a certain amount of built-in restriction even with new filter elements. That is why typically the indicator will always show some amount of restriction under normal conditions. Temporary conditions such as snow or inlet screen clogging may cause a high reading. The filter minder can be reset by pushing the yellow tab at the bottom of the gauge. Engine air filters do not plug based on time or mileage. They plug based on the operating environment of the vehicle.

2 • REMOTE ENGINE START SWITCH

This switch is provided for ease in servicing the engine. The ignition key must be in the ON position to be able to start the engine from this switch.

3 • REMOTE ENGINE STOP SWITCH This switch can be utilized at any time to stop the engine from the rear. It is provided for ease in servicing the engine.
